About seven months back when I did my first steps about getting samples for reviews,  I had invite CEM to join the show by sending to me one DT9989 scope meter.

Unfortunately for CEM, the software code in it was not perfect and needed extra debugging.
This reason caused a major delay of extra six months, and before three weeks from today I got the information that my sample is ready to be shipped.

Some people are aware that I was a major contributor at the EEVblog for two and half years.
Since this Christmas I am dancing solo, and so I gave the option to CEM to step back on their promise,
or to move ahead and support my own web space,
that will be exclusively related with reviews of industrial grade professional tools which target the professional repairmen / electrician engineer / etc.

CEM accepted me by my new identity, and decided to join the show. 8)

The greatest part is that still I have my old corporate friends at my side ( Agilent HH / Brymen & DEREE from Taiwan, and now CEM from China).
And currently I have one invitation in “pending mode”, referred too an old good Japanese brand.

Today due the forum pages of my friend Martin Lorton, I like to show some pages from the latest User’s manual.
And to share the final technical specifications and the good news about my own web space.  ;)

Beautiful....how old is it?

You made a simple question, but I will copy past the description that I have ready to add in a dedicated web page, that I am making about it.   :)

Copy/paste

History facts,

PM5133: 1mHz – 2MHz   (beginning of 1981 price announcement) 875 GBP)
PM5134: 1mHz – 20MHz  ………………………………………….1100 GBP)
GBP/USD 1.6 ratio exchange rate of 90’S.

The user’s manual that I have is the six edition 1989.
Those models were discontinued at 1999-2000 (Fluke camp).

About my PM5134, I am speculating due the serial number that it was made at 4 May 1994.

The specific unit came to Greece from Scotland and the first owner looks to was a local university (I found just the glue from an old sticker).
Thankfully it was most of the time just stored (teachers use to lock up equipment so to not get vandalized by the students).

It is time for me to step out from the time machine, and land on the 2012 (Doctor X).

I got this in my own town from another Greek friend of my, he was score it from Ebay at 2011.
I got it just for 100EUR at May 2012.
He got instead a fresh Rigol with two channels output.
For my needs and knowledge level, the PM5134 is the most well spent cash in my life.

It certainly is a beautiful device. The build quality on those "older" devices is great....enjoy....it's a brilliant find.

Hello Martin,

Finally do you have any review over the CEM DT-9989?
I just purchased one, and I am thinking about some things to have for this instrument.

Best Regards
