Vichy VC97 vs Victor VC97
« on: June 30, 2013, 07:00:16 PM »
Hi Martin,

I know you are trying to satisfy people's feedback regarding the length of your videos, but can you please show the actual autoranging ohms speed, not just the measurement results?

For example, at 20:28, you comment how slow the ranging is for the 100 ohm resistor, but you edited out the rest of the resistance measurements.

For future multimeter review videos, I would like to see how slow/fast multimeters autorange in the resistance readings.  I can also then see if the multimeter overshoots as well.

PS. The Vichy is also known as Vici vc97.

The Victor VC97 is also known as the Sinometer VC97 and can be had in neon green.

Hi Martin,

I don't see a reason you can't connect two meters in series on their current ranges and do side by side comparison feeding same current through both. Don't think the sum of burden voltages at 1mA will be high enough to upset your current standard.

Thanks for this and all other videos!

Excellent. I often wondered what the differences were between Vichy, Vici and Victor.

It'll be interesting to see how they drift over the coming months. I'm curious about this as someone was talking about it in another topic.

Hey Martin...

A bit unrelated to the video but I noticed it and the minor OCD in me can't just let it go.

At 00:03 at least in this latest video, the URL for the start music is incorrect, it's written as www . PatternMuCic.com  - c highlighted by me

Also, when i tried to access your forum today, it timed out for about a minute. I tried it from my dedicated server in Holland as I noticed and was working from there, so when I switched back to home computer,

Looks like you have some packet loss

Hello good man,

Ok...not missed to save time...rather to avoid clumsy video of me connecting to each resistor...I did miss holding the probes together to show auto ranging speed though...but point taken on showing possible overshoot.

Noted for next time.

Thanks for the other info, I have updated my tags with the other names.

Cheers,
Martin.

Thanks for the post ttp...Mmmm, my initial thought would be that it might affect the readings....let me nip over and check....no, in this case it works ok...but the DMMCheck Plus is particularly  sensitive to high burden voltage. In fact...that's something I forgot to do in this video.

So just for informational purposes:
Vichy VC97 1mA on mA -> 1.1mV; on uA -> 99.9 mV
Victor VC97 1mA on mA -> 3.4mV; on uA -> 102.2 mV

Cheers,
Martin.

Thanks! noted and changed for future videos...in description too! :o

I've also noted the slower times to my host in SA....moving the forum and website to the US is on my list of things to do...so thanks for highlighting.

Cheers,
Martin.

The long length of submarine optical fibre is the issue.........
