Great interview.  Really like Chris.  I was an eagle user, but decided that a commercial product should not be the defacto standard of hobby schematic and PCB layout tools.  It really should be an open source program.  KiCAD (pronounced Key CAD) is that solution.  CERN has used the above logic and has been heavily developing KiCAD over the past 3 years.  The current build is way ahead of what you can download in the uBuntu library, so if you want to use it, make sure to look on the web to get a fresh version (at commit 5678 at the time of this post).

Chris is a big supporter of KiCAD and was good enough to release his awesome KiCAD training videos(something like 50 of them) into the open source realm.

Hope to see Martin do a series of videos on KiCAD.  Would love to see him going through a design, making mistakes, and learning along the way...
